Pilots buy and sell aircraft and equipment with passion, so it made sense in January this year to undertake the daunting task of adding a classifieds section to AVweb’s editorial package.
The result is available here, and AVweb readers with something to sell can enjoy free listings for the next two months, starting today. The time window to get a free list is reduced for each day by November 8. After that, you can list your aircraft for as low as $29 per month. “When we started this project, we wanted to give Classifieds.avweb.com all the bells and whistles pilots told us they needed,” says Tim Cole, Chief Content Officer of Belvoir Media Group. “Aviation is broad and deep,” observes Cole, “and servicing all areas of the industry, such as job openings, became an early priority.”
The site currently serves individual piston aircraft owners, as well as Van Bortel aircraft brokerage mega-sellers in Arlington, Texas; Bennett Avionics in South Windsor, Connecticut; New Century Jet Aviva, Kansas; and Aviation Search Group, a staffing firm, also based in New Century, Kansas.
“We deliver two million daily AVweb Flash email letters each month, a factor that big marketers obviously find attractive,” Cole said. “Our goal is to make classifieds highly visible, easy to use, and content-driven.”
This new AVweb feature is the result of a partnership between AVweb.com and Phoenix-based entrepreneurs Jeff Miller and Todd Hogan. Miller is part of the flight operations team for Southwest Airlines and Hogan is a digital developer. Launched in 1995, AVweb is an early adopter of digitally delivered aviation media, spanning GA, business and military sectors, as well as spaceflight. It is the hub of the Belvoir aeronautical group, which includes Aeronautical consumer, Air safety, IFRand Kitplanes.
According to Hogan: “The ads will not only be found on Classifieds.avweb.com, but will also be tightly integrated with AVweb’s vast network of aviation content. These are just a few of the ways AVweb Classifieds will be more than the medium. classifieds department.”
The five-times-a-week Flash e-mail newsletter, automatic site-selection e-mail updates, as well as listings with AVweb’s used aircraft buying guides will have links to Classifieds .avweb.com, improving value for advertisers and browsers. Hogan emphasizes a versatile homepage search widget that will allow users to browse listings from the AVweb homepage and AVweb Flash.
“We want pilots to come early, come often, and stay to find a plane, fly-in real estate, avionics, or a great job,” Cole said. Upcoming enhancements include special weekly announcements in AVweb Flash: a Monday top-ranking Weekly Plan Pick, a Wednesday Jobs Spotlight, and a Friday This-Just-In announcement identifying new announcements .
