In the July 15 edition of the Mirror, there was a letter to the editor which began with the statement that “Many life advocates argue that the only question to consider about abortion is whether to take the life of an unborn child.”
The next sentence of this letter reads “In fact, the question is whether 100% of Americans should follow the religious beliefs of the 38% who find abortion wrong.”
It is science that tells us that human life begins at the moment of conception.
Each human life is unique and irreplaceable, we are all different from each other since humanity appeared on earth.
Due to advances in science and medicine over the past 50 years, science is telling us now and not just the Catholic Church.
Secondly, it is human life that the defenders of life defend and protect.
Defend the most vulnerable and deprived, those who have no voice and no chance to plead for their lives when the discussion on “take their life” appears, appears to be the moral, noble, and very American thing to do.
The July 15 letter ends with the statement “Please don’t force me to follow your religious beliefs.”
However, it is not just a religious belief, but a scientific fact founded and backed by science.
This fundamental moral and natural law on which civilized societies all over the world agree is that it is wrong to “take a life” at any time.
The smallest human in the womb deserves his chance to live a life.
