Actress and director Meagan Good revealed how God uses her talents to engage people in conversations about faith and ministry with those who work in the film industry during an interview with The Christian Post where she also spoke shared a prayer she says when she needs her advice.

Good, with over 20 Hollywood films to her credit, recently joined other famous actresses as a Celebrity Ambassador for World Vision, a Christian nonprofit organization that operates in nearly 100 countries around the world, designed the “The Tie that Binds” bracelet which is one of the gifts available in the annual gift catalog where selected items are sold to benefit groups of people in need.

“Jesus is the reason for the season,” Good told CP, detailing God’s call on her life in Hollywood where she shares her faith with those who might not feel embraced by mainstream devotees.

Along with her humanitarian work, Good said she uses her platform in mainstream entertainment to serve non-churches.

“I love what I do for a living. I feel very lucky to be able to do this. But at the end of the day, the reason I’m here is to serve my Lord; to be who He called me to be for, to continue to find out what that means, ”Good said in the interview with CP.

The Los Angeles native, who is married to filmmaker and preacher DeVon Franklin, said there is no greater peace than knowing “you are aligned.”

“I feel like I can be here in the industry I’m in. Light can’t shine on light; light can only shine on darkness. So I think God called us all to different places and different places. seasons, and different things for different reasons, ”she added.

Good, who has been playing since the age of 10, said that everything changed for her at 19.

“I was in this difficult transition from a child actor to an adult actor and I see everyone around me working. I was like, ‘Why am I not working, Lord? It was the first time that I prayed and said, “Wait a second, I didn’t even ask you if this is what I should do. I didn’t even ask you if I had Your permission. What do you have for my life? Good recalled asking God.

“It was the first time that I really put it on the altar. I was like, I want to do this. But I want what you want for me more than what I want for myself,” continued Good.

The actress said she then told God that she would be willing to do whatever he wanted her to do despite the pain she would feel if she had to give up acting.

“It was the first time that I felt God say, ‘Yes, that’s what you’re supposed to do. However, that’s not about that, and it’s not about you. this is the platform that I am going to give you and it is about you using it to glorify Me and walk into who I have called you to be, ”Good said, revealing that his journey of faith was “very interesting”.

“I know that as a Christian I am very outside the box. And for some Christians [I] can be slightly controversial, ”she told CP. “What I have had to learn over the years is that the way God wants to use me is very specific to me, as it is to all of us as Christians. It’s very unique, however he called us – whatever the packaging, the authenticity, the thought or the experiences or whatever.

Over the years, Good has come under fire from some Christians for the provocative outfits she chose to wear and the movie roles she agreed to play. During an appearance on DL Hughley’s 2019 radio show, the 40-year-old “Harlem” star revealed that she doesn’t always go to church because of what she described as being “assaulted” by followers in response to some of her career choices. .

During her interview with CP, Good said she is still “learning” what her calling to Hollywood means and what kind of women she is supposed to witness.

“I guess a lot of them are like me, where they felt despised or unworthy or not good enough – often in the church arena as well – and understanding that these people are called and qualified because God says they are. Not because of what someone else is thinking or feeling, or understanding or not understanding about them, ”she noted.

Good pointed out that at the end of the day, the bottom line and the most important thing is, “What does God think about you, and who has God called you to be?”

“It’s interesting because I still walk in some seasons,” she said. “I am constantly on this journey and constantly on this walk, and it is really interesting. But as long as you stay close to Him, He will guide you, lead you. And that, for me, is walking in that and using what he gave me, she continued.

“He allowed me to be here,” Good said. “There are a million beautiful, talented girls who are prettier than me, more talented than me, and he’s allowed me to be here.”

Waiting The author then revealed to CP one of the things she regularly prays to God: “’How do you want me to use this Lord and what am I supposed to do each season? How do I glorify the Kingdom and how do I talk about you?

Good added that even on the set of horror movies, for which she has also been tried, she found herself “having more conversations about God on these sets than on any other set.”

“People who didn’t want to hear or talk about [God] feel comfortable with myself because I work as hard as possible not to be judgmental and to be open-minded. I may disagree with you, or I may not believe the same as you, but I don’t make people feel bad about it or uncomfortable or try to challenge them or me. fight with them about it, ”Good maintained.

“I’m just trying to move in complete love and allow Spirit to tell me what I should and shouldn’t say and I’m trying not to move on my own. And you find in these arenas, for me, I have so many people who come back with me and say to me: ‘You were my first meeting with a Christian who made me feel comfortable enough to go and be curious about God’ “, she concluded.

Good ended the interview by sharing that his “greatest joy” in life is being a witness for Jesus on set.
