a resident of Palmdale, I am writing to you out of concern for the ongoing expansion of the Palmdale Waste Management Landfill located at 1200 West City Ranch Road.

This landfill was supposed to be closed in 2007, but the city of Palmdale managed to keep it open well beyond its closing date by obtaining what are called conditional use permits.

Now, they’ve managed to push back its closing date to 2044, which is 36 years after its original closing date.

The City also began collecting an additional 2,000 tons of waste starting in 2018, ignoring environmental impact reports indicating that such an increase would harm the environment.

This landfill is extremely large and located too close to homes, parks, schools, stores, streams and the California Aqueduct to be considered safe at this point.

It even stinks the surrounding areas like garbage sometimes. Landfills produce heavy carbon and methane emissions that can spread through the air and soil, potentially creating a health hazard.

At a time when the focus is on climate change and environmentally sustainable practices, it’s surprising that this dumping ground has been allowed to grow to a monstrous size around a crowded community. There is nothing lasting in this operation.

It’s time for the City of Palmdale to work on a plan to close the landfill at its current location and possibly merge it with the Waste Management landfill in Lancaster, located at 600 East Avenue F.

rt Sirota, thank you for your letter, “Sugarcandy Mountain”. You seem to be a kind and understanding man who seeks the truth.

I truly believe there is a God. When you consider how humans are made, no two are alike, how could that be without a supreme being? When you consider our earth with its great beauty and resources, how could that happen without being Supreme? To think that it happened on its own seems impossible. It is far more likely that a Supreme Being did.

I believe there is a God. I believe we should have a friendship with God instead of a “religion”. Even if there is no God, why would you take away something that makes life better for people? It would be like taking painkillers to a person who is in a lot of pain.

r. Letter from Manning (January 27, 2022): “The rabid denunciation of belief in God and especially the very denial of the earthly existence of Jesus Christ is insulting to Martin Luther King, Desmond Tutu, the strong influence of the Church Christianity in the African-American community and the religion of Islam”.

Manning confuses religion with Christianity. For example, Catholics are religious, but they believe in purgatory, a place of temporary purification before going to heaven.

However, the Bible believes that hell is a place of eternal torment. The scribes and Pharisees were religious, but Jesus said, “Practice therefore and observe whatever they tell you. But don’t do what they do, because they don’t practice what they preach.

Jesus added: “Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside will also be clean. Matthew 23:3. (NAV). Jesus paid a price for speaking: “Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled together in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and they plotted to arrest Jesus in secret and to kill him. Matthew 26:3 (NIV).

Mr Sirota: “I have not seen any evidence to suggest that Jesus is anything other than a fictional character like Robin Hood, Buddha and King Arthur.”

For African Americans, belief in God is sacred. In the ‘I Have A Dream’ speech, Dr. King said: “…when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, can join hands and sing the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last. Finally free. Thanks to Almighty God, we are finally free. The Negro spiritual was to reflect “…the slaves’ need to express their new faith [of Christianity]», « The Negro Spiritual: From From the cotton field to the concert hall”, spirituals-database.com April 2015

Mission accomplished Mr President! Your ineptitude and incompetence in foreign affairs encouraged the Russians to invade Ukraine.

The incompetence to withdraw from Afghanistan, to beg the Iranians to sign a dangerous new nuclear deal, the approval of the Nordstream gas pipeline that keeps Europe dependent on Russia, and your continued displays of weakness have all drawn attention from the public of everything that is collapsing in your home.

Thus, the emerging tyrant of the left at our northern border, the influx of 100,000 to 200,000 illegal aliens at our southern border and the escalation of inflation (officially 7.5% but actually closer to 15% according to ShadowStats) and runaway crime are all forgotten.

The “media” is obsessed with helping you distract by bringing up the Ukraine-Russia war and the Evil Empire’s aggression. Of course, Ukraine is a story, but unfortunately for you, Mr President, it will eventually fade away. Although there is hope for you. All the weakness and ineptitude that you and your administration exhibit daily has not been lost on Putin, the Chinese Communists, North Korea or Iran.

Sadly, it hasn’t been lost in Europe, Taiwan, South Korea, or Israel either. Asking you, Mr. Biden, to lead is way beyond anything, but you may be able to see the value of stockpiling weapons in the jurisdictions of our allies before they are attacked.

You may also want to stop buying Russian oil and gas and return the United States to energy independence. But energy independence wouldn’t make the Squad or the Green Weinies happy.
