Gorur Ghash, the online startup that fascinatingly blends fashion and comedy, is one of the few brands that can inspire young people to incorporate color, whimsy and wit into their wardrobes.
In our ever-saturated apparel industry, this is how they leave their mark, as competitors scramble to promote their collections through consumer branding.
“We are funny, caught up in the trend and our clothes provide a feel-good factor,” said Fahim Islam Shetab, one of the co-founders of Gorur Ghash.
Gorur Ghash incorporates the latest pop culture trends and references for added relatability. The brand is now hugely popular for its quirky prints and quirky slogans.
Launched in 2014, Gorur Ghash, a passionate project of Nahiyan Naser, was born from his desire to undertake. However, at the time, Gorur Ghash was limited to selling posters and had not debuted as a clothing brand at the time.
In 2017, Nahiyan, with his new army, Fahim Islam Shetab and Ali Sakhi, revamped Gorur Ghash and turned it into a clothing brand for young people.
Unfortunately, the first collection of t-shirts was not satisfactory. But, the trio of designers, refusing to give in, began to work with several suppliers while respecting strict quality control.
In 2018, the Ghash team launched its first flagship item – the Bangalee version of the Japanese kimono.
“The kimono was the hottest item then, and no brand was selling good quality kimonos, so we received undivided attention which gave a boost to the whole business,” said Nahiyan.
The brand has not stopped since. From funky Cuban shirts to super basic tees, nothing is out of Ghash territory.
However, being an online entity, the brand initially grew slower than expected, as people at the time had little faith in online brands and the products they sold.
“We’ve been pushing a lot on market activation. We’re even one of those brands that introduced a trial and return policy in the country for the first time,” Nahiyan said.
Nevertheless, with the onset of the global pandemic, their fortunes improved as online shopping was the only option available. Subsequently, the start-up progressed considerably.

Gorur Ghash’s target demographic is youth, between the ages of 15 and 30. The brand is also a proud promoter of androgynous fashion, and aside from a few specific products, most of its collection is gender-neutral.
The price ranges for all products are reasonable and economical.
“The reason we don’t want to open a physical outlet is because it’s completely unnecessary these days. Also, renting a space will increase our operational costs, which will be reflected in the price of our products. That’s the last thing we want,” Fahim said.
Currently, Gorur Ghash is a team of nine people. The brand’s operational office and manufacturing unit are located in Uttara.
Since its inception, Gorur Ghash has been available to customers nationwide. Additionally, their collections are also available on Amazon US.
Winter is almost here, and the Ghash team has deliberately made it their mission to embrace winter with style and fun. Here is a list of the latest collection
Evening bombers and corduroy jackets
Made with heavyweight corduroy fabrics, corduroy jackets are versatile and can be worn with almost anything. The jackets are available in five different colors.
“One of the striking attributes of our jackets is that they are full of pockets and zippers, which provide additional utility to the wearer,” Fahim said.
To date, Gorur Ghash has sold over 5,000 corduroy jackets.
Women’s party bomber jackets are a new addition, which adds new dimensions to the concept of “party wear”.
Made with moderately thin corduroy fabrics, these jackets are funky, versatile and give off a certain disco vibe.

Gorur Ghash is one of the country’s pioneers in introducing the timeless Harrington jackets, the staple of British outerwear. The name “Harrington” was taken from a character on the prime-time soap opera “Peyton Place” that aired in the 1960s.
Harrington jackets are the best lightweight jackets, made from cotton or suede. The design is incorporated with the traditional Fraser tartan and a stand-up collar.
Ghorur Ghash also offers the chore coat (also called chore jacket). Appearing in the 19th century in France, chore coats were the essential clothing choice for daily workers.
The jacket perfectly encapsulates everything that makes workwear great. It is functional, comfortable and robust. Available in two shades, the chores – neither too casual nor too formal – are perfect for any event.
