David Draiman and Mr. Shadows speak out against “Don’t Say Gay Bill”

Disturbed’s David Draiman and Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows recently criticized Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Bill, dubbed the “Don’t Say Gay Bill” by LGBTQ+ activists. You can check out their tweets towards the bottom of this page.

The bill “prohibits classroom discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity at certain grade levels.”

On Thursday, March 10, Draiman took to Twitter to share an article from the Miami Herald on the protests against the bill in Florida. “This is ridiculous. #GAYGAYGAYGAYGAYGAYGAY”.

Mr Shadows weighed in on the tweet, writing: ‘As the parent of a 7 and 9 year old they asked about gender and used the word ‘gay’ in a pejorative way. at that age, so I feel quicker to explain to each other and show empathy for everyone for the better… including school. (I read the entire bill.)”

Although Gov. Ron DeSantis hasn’t indicated whether or not he will sign the bill when it arrives on his desk, he has said he supports it.

“Obviously right now we’re seeing a lot of focus on transgender, telling kids that they may be able to choose genders and stuff. I don’t think parents want that for these young kids. “, said DeSantis during a press conference. in Jacksonville on March 4.
